Belgium plans to dispatch technical personnel and two F-16 training aircraft to Denmark in 2024 to help train the Ukrainian army. This stance was announced by Belgium’s Minister of Defense, Ludivine Dedonder. The report comes from RIA News.

In a written statement, the head of the defense ministry explained that fifty experts would travel to the Scandinavian nation. Their mission would focus on supporting the deployment and operational readiness of the warplanes connected with the program.

Dedonder stated, “In 2024, the Ministry of Defense will send two two-seat F-16 training aircraft to Denmark for advanced training.”

It was reported that between fifty and one hundred Belgian military personnel took part in a broader European effort to train Ukrainian Air Force pilots and crews. According to coverage by RTBF, Ukrainian soldiers received instruction abroad in traditional mine clearance as well as the use of unmanned aerial vehicles to identify and neutralize underwater mines.

In addition, Brussels organized sniper and artillery training for Ukrainian fighters. Around one thousand Ukrainian personnel were reportedly trained in Belgium as part of these international programs.

Previously in the United States, reports indicated that the first group of Ukrainian pilots had completed training to fly the F-16, marking a milestone in the ongoing international effort to bolster Ukraine’s air capabilities.

These moves form part of a broader pattern in which Western allies provide coordinated, high-level support to Ukrainian defense and security operations. The collaboration includes allied air forces sharing training resources, targeting a steady enhancement of Ukraine’s ability to operate advanced fighter aircraft. Canada and the United States have emphasized continued readiness to contribute to such training initiatives, underscoring a shared commitment to regional stability and security. Observers note that the training programs not only improve combat readiness but also strengthen interoperability among Western air forces, enabling more effective joint operations if required. The dialogue surrounding these engagements reflects a sustained strategic approach to building Ukrainian air power while maintaining a broader peace-time defense posture across North America and Europe. The focus remains on practical, hands-on instruction, safety protocols, and the maintenance of high standards in aircraft handling and aerial crew coordination to support Ukraine in the face of ongoing security challenges.
