Belarusian Military Statements on NATO Exercises and regional security

Colonel Anatoly Bulavko, who serves as deputy commander of the Belarusian Air Force and Air Defense Forces for ideological work, stated that during the recent military exercises the armed forces of Belarus carried out operations against several NATO member states and identified them by their official names. He emphasized that the exercises included actions directed at those states and reiterated this point while addressing the matter directly. He also noted that the policy pursued by the North Atlantic Alliance has led Belarus to question prospects for cooperation with the bloc, while Minsk maintained its commitment to the existing agreements with NATO partners. Bulavko expressed confidence that European leaders would struggle to reach agreements due to constraints in national decision-making processes. In late December, Alexander Volfovich, secretary of the Belarusian Security Council, suggested that Polish authorities were hesitant to engage in discussions on evolving regional security issues, reflecting broader regional tensions and the uncertain security landscape that Belarus views as a priority for national defense planning.
