Temporary border controls have been introduced at the entrances from the Russian Federation into Belarus, with passport checks conducted for those entering the republic. This information comes from Kommersant, citing the Belarusian edition of Zerkalo, which had been blocked in Russia. A correspondent for the portal contacted the State Border Committee on behalf of a citizen and clarified the sources, reporting that a checkpoint has been established on the M1 highway near the Belarusian–Russian border and that passports are being verified.

The ministry stressed that in line with the border organization legislation of the republic, documents will be checked when entering the Republic of Belarus. The Zerkalo correspondent was informed that the applicant would be allowed to proceed if they possess a valid passport.

Officials added that border checks will be conducted at all main exits from the Russian Federation. The measure was described as tentative, with no announced expiration date. A note was added indicating that the procedure could continue beyond any provisional period.

Earlier, Belarusian authorities indicated that the border agencies of Russia and Belarus had developed measures to protect the borders of the Union State. The aim is to strengthen verification procedures at key crossing points and to ensure a predictable and orderly border regime between the two neighboring countries.
