The Chief of the General Staff of the Belarusian Armed Forces, First Deputy Minister of Defense Viktor Gulevich, indicated that Minsk does not observe a diminution in the presence of NATO forces near Belarusian borders. This includes the ongoing rotation plans that have been publicly discussed, according to reports carried by DEA News.

Speaking about borders with NATO members, Gulevich noted that the formations of U.S. forces and Western European contingents, which are stationed in neighboring states such as the Baltic states and Poland, do not appear to be coming down in number. He stressed that the level of activity at the frontier remains steady rather than declining, suggesting a continued, palpable posture on the part of alliance forces close to Belarus.

Gulevich added that Belarus remains prepared to respond to evolving security dynamics. At times when the situation demands vigilance, Minsk has deployed battalion-tactical groups into directions deemed threatened to strengthen defensive readiness. This approach underscores a readiness to adjust force postures in response to perceived risks along the frontier.

The former Minister of Defense of Belarus, Viktor Khrenin, described the situation on Belarus’s western border as unpredictable but manageable. He highlighted that Kyiv and allied partners have increased their activities along the Ukrainian border, which in his view signals rapid developments that could influence regional security calculations.

According to Khrenin, Belarus observes what he characterizes as advanced preparation for potential conflict on NATO’s eastern flank. This assessment points to heightened anticipation of possible escalation and a proactive stance by Minsk to safeguard national security through situational awareness and measured military readiness.
