Belarus Expands Internal Troops with Warehouse Divisions and New Formations

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus announced that all detachments within the internal troops will establish warehouse departments. The information was posted through the ministry’s official telegraph channel. This move signals a broader effort to modernize logistics and streamline supply chains across the force as part of recent organizational changes.

According to the same channel, a similar unit has already been formed at unit 3214 in Minsk. The newly created detachment has been designated as Smerch. The emergence of this unit is described by officials as a pilot within the larger framework of capabilities expansion for internal security forces and logistical readiness.

The report states that similar units will be created in all formations of the internal troops. This nationwide rollout underscores a commitment to improving storage, distribution, and rapid deployment of materials needed for training, operations, and reserve support.

In parallel, a training gathering for the assigned staff occurred. About 300 reservists participated, reinforcing skills gained during prior military and contractual service. Their activities included live-fire drills, tactical exercises, and medical training designed to heighten readiness for possible contingencies and rapid response requirements.

Earlier reporting indicated heightened concerns over potential actions from neighboring forces. Ukraine previously anticipated possible incursions from Belarusian territory around February 2023. Military officials noted that Ukrainian forces had taken precautions by fortifying certain lines and securing key areas, aiming to reduce exposure while awaiting further developments.

Officials have indicated that any defensive or countermeasures by Ukraine would hinge on the arrival of additional Western military equipment and support. The broader regional security dynamic remains a focal point for both sides as formations adapt to evolving threats and strategic pressures.
