The Belarusian Defense Ministry has reported that the delegation directing missile-strike control drills within the Belarusian Armed Forces is traveling to Russian territory for joint activity. The ministry indicated that the earlier gathering of troops and matériel at a Russian training facility has drawn to a close, with the aim of testing attack control using multiple missile systems during live exercises.
Earlier, Belarusian air defense units and air force crews traveled to Russia to participate in combined operational-tactical live-fire exercises. The exercises were slated to take place at a firing range in the Ashuluk area of the Astrakhan region, a venue known for hosting large-scale drills and cross-border training.
The training program was announced on August 5 and was set to involve roughly four thousand personnel along with about 150 pieces of equipment. The scale of the event reflected deep collaboration between the two nations and a shared approach to testing readiness under varied combat scenarios.
In remarks prior to the exercises, Lukashenko highlighted perceived strategic advantages stemming from the joint capabilities of Russia and Belarus, including their nuclear-tinged deterrent posture. The leaders underscored how integrated defense efforts could enhance security guarantees for both states in the current regional security environment.
