Bears have emerged from their winter slumber near Baikal, and the area known as the Reserved Podlemorie has drawn attention from local observers. The event is being tracked by a telegraph-based protection channel that monitors this designated zone for wildlife activity.
In the wake of the awakening, Yevgeny Baturin, a senior state inspector and head of the Khius task force, reported finding signs of the bear’s return. The animal hungry and alert, began tracing its movements with purpose as if it were navigating a familiar route across the snowy landscape.
Along the banks of the Maly Chivyrkui River, a trail of footprints appeared. Authorities assessed the prints as belonging to a mature, strong individual, noting the size and imprint depth as indicators of the bear’s health and vigor after winter sleep.
Experts comment that the combination of deep, persistent snow and a solid snow crust underfoot can influence the bear’s mobility. In such conditions movement becomes feasible for a creature covered in thick fur while deer tracks may be less reliable under the crust, complicating pursuit dynamics.
The outcome of the encounter, whether it ended in a successful catch or a new quartering of tracks in the snowy expanse, remains uncertain at this time.
A video sequence previously released showed a bear waking to a world of snowfall in the Far East, capturing the moment of confusion and the instinctual response to cold and light after months of dormancy.
