After a lengthy wait, DICE confirms that Season 01 of Battlefield 2042, titled Zero Hour, will kick off just before the weekend. The first post-launch expansion arrives on all platforms on June 9, bringing a fresh map, a new specialist, and a collection of weapons and gadgets to expand the battlefield experience.

The core content remains free for all players through the new Battle Pass. Those who upgrade to the Premium Pass gain access to exclusive cosmetics, including legendary skins and unique melee animations. Zero Hour transports players to the rugged Canadian Rockies, introducing the demanding terrain of the new map Exposure. Expect intense ground-to-air skirmishes and close-quarters combat as you explore its caves, ridges, and narrow passes. Exposure will also be playable in All-Out War and Portal modes, broadening its strategic reach across the game’s modes.

Season 01 introduces Ewelina Lis, a vehicle-destruction specialist renowned for her ability to neutralize armored ground and air threats. Lis fires precise rocket projectiles that target adversaries with pinpoint accuracy, and her Armor Hunter capability highlights critical information, making her a formidable opponent against any armored unit or aircraft. This specialist adds a new layer of tactical decision-making for teams seeking to disrupt enemy mobility on the battlefield.

Zero Hour expands the arsenal with several notable additions. New choppers, such as the RAH-68 Ferret and the YG-99 Hannibal, come equipped with stealth radar and enhanced defensive systems to enhance reconnaissance and protection in contested zones. Players can also opt for the Ghostmaker R10 crossbow or select from a range of ammunition types—from standard to light, heavy, and explosive—to suit varying combat scenarios. For mid-range engagements, the BSV-M sniper rifle provides reliable reach. Additionally, the new Smoke Grenade Launcher offers strategic advantages for offensive pushes and defensive retakes alike.

The ongoing development update confirms a continued focus on stability, balance, weapon and vehicle handling, and overall performance. In addition, Battlefield Portal will gain fresh content, expanding the available arsenals and features. For those curious about classic Battlefield experiences, the update references beloved entries such as Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 3 as part of the evolving Portal offerings. The title remains available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, ensuring broad access across modern and current-generation systems.
