A resident of a Bashkir village faced prison time after a violent incident involving his wife, witnessed by their 12-year-old daughter. The information originates from the press office of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Bashkortostan.
According to the case details, a 41-year-old man living in the village of Tungatarovo, Uchalinsky district, was intoxicated on the night of 30 June 2022. An argument with his 36-year-old wife escalated, and he prevented her from leaving the home, holding a knife in his hand. The couple’s 12-year-old daughter alerted neighbors when she saw her father threaten her mother. Neighbors called the police, and when officers arrived, the aggressor attacked his wife, slashing at her neck with the knife. This sequence of events prompted a swift police response to neutralize the threat and provide medical assistance to both victims.
The court subsequently found the man guilty of several offenses under Russian law, including illegal deprivation of liberty (paragraph “d” of part 2 of Art. 127), threat to kill (Part 1 of Art. 119), and attempted murder (Part 3 of Art. 30, chapter 1, Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The defendant pleaded guilty to the charges, and the court sentenced him to a strict regime correctional colony for four years.
Earlier in the year, a separate report emerged from Krasnoyarsk about a man who twice attempted to harm his ex-wife in order to influence custody outcomes for their children. This case underscores ongoing concerns about domestic violence and the legal consequences for those who threaten or injure family members.
Throughout these proceedings, authorities emphasized adherence to the rule of law and the protection of victims, with authorities describing steps taken to ensure safety and accountability. The legal process in Bashkortostan and across the region demonstrates that violent acts within the home are investigated rigorously and prosecuted firmly, with penalties calibrated to the seriousness of the offenses and the risk posed to victims.
