Public television is poised to unveil a bold new chapter for 2024 with the premiere of Bake Off: Celebrities in the Bake Off, set to air on Thursday, January 11. Paula Vazquez leads the show as host, while thirteen celebrities step into the kitchen to prove who can rise above the rest as the country’s top pastry chef. YOTELE attended the press conference this Monday, where the show’s key players gathered with the judging panel: Paco Roncero, Eva Arguiñano, and Damián Betular.
RTVE’s director of originals, Ana María Bordás, emphasized that TVE has thoughtfully prepared the return of the format, believing it fits public television’s vibe: a relaxed mood that fosters friendship. On Paula Vazquez’s return to host the Prime Video edition, Bordás noted that the project wouldn’t exist without her influence and leadership.
Vazquez described Bake Off as a treat for everyone involved. The Galician host called the casting lively and shared that audiences will recognize the people behind the celebrities. Although the show is lighthearted, she added that the judging panel brings a careful, exacting standard to the kitchen.
One of the judges is Paco Roncero, who admits to being a fan of the format. He said the program contains all the essential elements of a classic recipe. Eva Arguiñano added that stepping away from her usual attire allowed her to experience the format in a new way, noting that for the first time in her career she feels calm and fully enjoying the journey.
Rocío Carrasco: “The judging team is understanding and affectionate”
Rocío Jurado’s daughter also took part in the press event, addressing the buzz created by the program’s promotions. She recalled a moment during filming when she stumbled in the set, describing it with humor and grace. Despite the dramatic marketing, she says she enjoyed the experience and found the judges to be empathetic and loving, which she found uplifting.
Yolanda Ramos is returning as a contestant after her appearance on the Prime Video edition. She thanked TVE and the production company for trusting her again with a project that presented a real challenge. Yet she noted that the atmosphere on set was positive from the start and that cooking on screen is a difficult but rewarding craft.
Terelu Campos also joins the cast, stepping back into the apron after competing on MasterChef Celebrity. She remarked that at a particularly tough point in her life, this opportunity came at the right time, helping to keep her mind focused and spirits high after a family loss. In her presentation, Terelu appreciated the judges’ tone and the respectful way they conduct themselves, asserting that seriousness does not have to be harsh or insulting. Alba Carrillo joined the lineup as well, sending a message to the network and fans and thanking TVE for the chance to be part of this landmark moment on national television. She expressed that being on TVE feels like a pivotal gift and a clear step forward for her career.
