On the day violence against women was formally condemned and work to end it intensified, a regional government body awarded five distinctions to institutions and individuals leading initiatives in this fight. Among the honorees were Apramp, a group focusing on the integration of women exiting prostitution; the Mutua Madrileña Foundation; Antena 3 News for a campaign promoting zero tolerance against abuse; Anar Foundation for providing teleassistance to at‑risk minors; and magistrate Jose Maria Gomez Villora. In 2005, Valencia appointed its first gender-based violence judge as part of the new specialized departments dedicated to addressing violence against women. [Citation]
