Authorities in Catalonia Target A Repeat Offender Network Operating in Barcelona and Surrounding Areas
Early this Wednesday, officers from the Mossos d’Esquadra and the National Police executed coordinated searches and registrations at residences in Barcelona and in Montcada i Reixac, marking the dismantling of an active gang tied to multiple recurrent offenses. The operation represents a decisive strike against property crimes affecting residents and visitors alike.
Investigators indicate that a group specializing in organized thefts and robberies is central to the operation. The focus is on criminal activity carried out in tourist hotspots as well as assaults on facilities and organizations in the region.
The Horta-Guinardó Local Police Investigation Unit, together with the Barcelona Criminal Investigation Department’s unit for repeat offenders and the Judicial Police group from Sant Adrià de Besòs, are collaborating on the operation. The investigation is being conducted under court-ordered confidentiality.
Officials from the Mossos report that the effort targets both multiple recurring crimes and a more specialized form of offense carried out within the city limits.
In parallel, Catalan police deployed investigation and riot-control units along with canine teams to support the operation and identify further leads in the cash and property data connected to the case.
