Authorities Respond to Large Outdoor Party Near Fuente Álamo

Scores of Civil Guard officers and members of the local police in Fuente Álamo are managing an extensive outdoor gathering that has drawn attention to the margins of the old town hall area. The event, described by regional government sources as an illegal macro party, has been unfolding since last weekend on land belonging to the town hall. Local, regional, and national authorities are coordinating to assess and mitigate risks associated with the gathering.

A growing number of incidents have been logged around the event. So far, there have been 12 complaints tied to positive drug tests, three additional cases for other reasons, 17 reports of drug possession, and one incident related to road safety. In addition, authorities report the seizure of 90 doses of carton LSD and 4.1 doses of liquid LSD from a Brazilian national present at the scene.

Mariola Guevara, the government delegate for the region, confirmed that a call had been received from Juana María Martínez, the mayor of Fuente Álamo, regarding the existence of what is being called the “Big Damn Party.” The gathering is located outdoors on the grounds of the former town hall and has drawn attention from officials who have been monitoring the situation from the outset.

From the start, officers have controlled the conditions for those moving through the area. They conducted drug and alcohol checks on passersby and took steps to prevent individuals from leaving the venue to avoid potential hazards on nearby roads. Similarly, the local security apparatus is investigating the organizers behind the macro event to determine who is responsible for coordinating the activities.

In the last several hours, approximately 200 vehicles have departed the vicinity. While the majority of participants remain at the site, predictions indicate many will leave only after the Three Wise Men festival, which is scheduled to take place next Saturday.

To manage the situation, around 100 soldiers were deployed, reflecting the difficulty of completely clearing the area. The focus has been on preventing people from re-entering once they exit the venue, and on maintaining safe routes for traffic and pedestrians away from the site.

The “Big Damn Party” is a type of large-scale event that has appeared in various parts of the country in recent years. Similar gatherings occurred last year in Peza (Granada) and were noted at the Fuente Álamo speed circuit during that period.

Initial arrivals last weekend reportedly included individuals who circulated a message on social networks suggesting that access would be restricted to a select and trusted group, which helped catalyze the spread of the event online.

Deputy Chief and advisor to Internal Affairs, Emergencies and Regional Planning, José Angel Antelo, spoke with the mayor and chair of the Municipal Local Security Board, Juana María Martínez, about calling an extraordinary emergency meeting of the board. The purpose was to address possible criminal actions and administrative violations arising from the unauthorized event.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, Emergencies and Regional Planning, the regional security authority for the Murcia region, issued a formal reaction to the situation and outlined concerns about the illegal gathering. The administration also noted potential offences linked to the occupation of a facility owned by the Fuente Álamo City Council and violations of regional rules governing demonstrations and public performances. Legal provisions, including an anti-evasion regime for entertainment activities, were cited in relation to the incident.

Even amid these developments, some officials criticized the perceived lack of initiative from the local government board. They called for swift action to end the illegal party and prevent further risk to the community. In response, Antelo urged the regional leadership to engage immediately with the Fuente Álamo Local Security Council to secure a timely and decisive outcome. He emphasized that waiting for progress from the current administration would not be acceptable and urged a strong presence in the council oversight body.
