Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure, a Nasdaq-listed renewables company, has announced the acquisition of two operating wind parks in the United Kingdom for roughly 61 million euros. This strategic move strengthens its European footprint and complements the group’s existing portfolio across Europe, including Spain and Italy where it operates a cluster of solar plants totaling 692 MW. The acquisition underscores Atlantica’s commitment to expanding its clean energy capacity and leveraging cross-border opportunities within a diversified energy platform.
Atlantica’s primary market remains the United States, where it runs solar and wind facilities and hosts the nation’s third-largest geothermal plant. The company is also advancing the development of large-scale storage solutions, including two prominent battery storage facilities and a 150 MW photovoltaic project in California. These initiatives reflect Atlantica’s broader strategy to integrate generation, storage, and transmission within a cohesive renewable energy system.
Today the company operates about 2.6 GW of renewable capacity and maintains 1,978 kilometers of transmission lines. In addition, Atlantica has 2.2 GW of renewable energy projects and 6 GWh of storage projects in development, signaling a robust pipeline to support uninterrupted power delivery and grid resilience as markets transition to higher shares of variable renewables.
In 2023, Atlantica reported global sales of approximately 1.1 billion dollars, with an EBITDA of about 795 million dollars and a net income of 43 million dollars. These figures illustrate the company’s scale and profitability in the renewables sector, reflecting steady performance amid evolving energy markets and policy landscapes across its regions of operation.
