In Asturias, a judo instructor with assignments at several schools was accused on the 20th of misconduct involving minors. The allegation was brought to authorities and the individual was taken into custody. The charges relate to alleged sexual assaults against underage students.
The arrest was confirmed today by the High Headquarters of the National Police in Asturias after a minor from Oviedo testified in the presence of officers from the Family and Women Unit (UFAM). In the complaint, the minor described inappropriate touching by the judo teacher.
The initial investigations led to additional testimonies that, after being converted into formal complaints, indicated further victims among underage girls and friends of the first victim. The same educator is alleged to have engaged in similar conduct with these youths.
Authorities note that the person is an educator who has taught at least three public schools in Asturias. Based on this, investigators have not ruled out the possibility of more victims among his students.
One of the girls who reported the incidents requested protection measures to ensure distance from the alleged attacker while the case proceeded.
Following the locating of the suspect, he was detained and placed in custody, with arrangements made through the Oviedo Court of Cassation.
Since 2015, the Criminal Code imposes that individuals convicted of sexual assaults are barred from practicing professions involving contact with minors, to prevent direct interaction with other youths.
Police sources emphasize that the investigation remains active and open, as there is an acknowledgment that further incidents of sexual assault by the defendant may exist and require examination. (National Police, Asturias, official statement).
