Astrakhan authorities raise regional emergency status after collapse at a five-story building
The governor of the Astrakhan Region, Igor Babushkin, stated to reporters that the regional emergency regime was activated following the collapse of two entrances of a five-story residential building in Astrakhan. This information was reported by TASS.
According to Babushkin, the emergency level has been elevated to the regional tier. At that level, the administration has adopted the necessary regulatory measures to ensure financial assistance for residents who find themselves in a difficult situation due to the incident.
Earlier reports indicated that a portion of the building had fallen away in Astrakhan, which could necessitate renovations in one of the apartments. The ministry confirmed preliminary data showing that the collapse occurred in one of the apartments during construction and repair work by unidentified individuals, which led to damage to load-bearing structures.
On the evening of November 16, two entrances to a residential building on Station Square in Astrakhan collapsed. Prior to the emergency, local residents observed cracks in the facade and managed to contact emergency services.
According to data from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a total of 213 people, including 37 children, were evacuated from the building before the collapse occurred.
Earlier reports in Dagestan highlighted a separate incident involving a gas explosion in a residential building.
