The fire that broke out on the roof of the Astoria Hotel in Kazan has been localized, according to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia. Firefighting units attached to the Russian Ministry of Emergencies in Tatarstan arrived at the scene and confirmed the containment of the blaze. The incident response teams worked rapidly to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent structures and to safeguard nearby areas.

The ministry’s statement clarified that the flames had engulfed the roof of a two-storey building with an attic. The affected area measures approximately 936 square meters. Early assessments indicate that there were no reported civilian casualties as a result of the incident. Emergency responders continued to monitor the situation and take measures to ensure the safety of anyone who may have been inside or around the hotel at the time of the fire.

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Tatarstan has initiated a formal investigation into the fire at the Astoria Hotel. The prosecutor for Kazan’s Volga region, Artur Sharipov, visited the scene and will supervise the organization of temporary accommodations for hotel staff and guests during the ongoing response and recovery efforts. The office stated that authorities will determine the causes and circumstances of the incident and conduct a legal assessment of compliance with fire safety requirements.

At the time of the fire, all occupants were reportedly able to evacuate safely from the building. Local authorities coordinated with hotel management to ensure an orderly and swift evacuation, and rescue teams established a perimeter around the site to secure the area and assist anyone in need of aid.

Earlier reports described a resident of Nefteyugansk who escaped the flames by leaping from a window of a high-rise building, highlighting the various individual escapes connected with the broader emergency response. Rescue workers remained on site to assist with any remaining hazards and to support the continued investigation into the incident, including safety reviews of the building and its roof structure to prevent a recurrence. The overall emphasis from authorities was on safeguarding residents, visitors, and staff, while determining the exact sequence of events leading to the fire.
