A resident of the Omsk region was detained after damaging another person’s property in what authorities describe as revenge. The information comes from the regional press office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
The incident took place at night in the village of Krestiki, located in the Okoneshnikovsky district. According to police, a 26-year-old local man was driving home past midnight when a group of men appeared from the bushes and a single assailant approached him, threatening to kill him. The woman at the scene could not identify anyone from the hostile group, so she attempted to retreat from the dangerous area. Yet the attacker grabbed a Daewoo Matiz and struck the trunk and windshield with a stick. The damage to the vehicle amounted to 27 thousand rubles.
The owner of the damaged car later identified the intruder, and soon after, police detained a 21-year-old acquaintance at his home. The detainee told investigators that earlier in the evening he had been drinking with friends and then went for a walk. While strolling at night with his companions, one passenger in a passing car allegedly hurled insults at them. The suspect claimed that people from that vehicle later moved to another car he believed belonged to the victim.
Investigators concluded that the girl in the incident was not involved in the events described by the suspect. A criminal case has been opened against the 21-year-old under Part 1 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for intentional destruction or damage to property.
In a separate regional report, authorities noted a separate road incident near Yekaterinburg involving a man who was struck by two cars during a dispute with his wife. The case highlights ongoing concerns about road safety and the handling of confrontations that escalate into property damage and threats.
