The Guardia Civil has arrested a 43-year-old Moldovan man in Los Montesinos for committing 18 home robbery offenses in Pilar de la Horadada, Ibi, and San Vicente del Raspeig. The suspect, who had a lengthy record of similar crimes, was detained at his residence in Los Montesinos after an electronic device he used to steal from a property was activated. In the operation conducted last March and released today by the Guardia Civil, jewelry and electronic equipment were recovered, with work continuing to identify other potential victims.

The investigation began after the Guardia Civil detected a significant rise in thefts during the late last year in the Pinar de Campoverde area of Pilar de la Horadada. The robberies were mainly carried out in the late afternoon or evening when residents were away, with entries achieved by forcing doors or windows.

Colaboración vecinal

The Pilar de la Horadada Guardia Civil Station, with the cooperation of the local police, began a series of coordinated patrols to strengthen security in the affected area and launched an operation in which officers relied on valuable citizen partnership from neighbors. This information proved crucial for the police investigation and helped shape the course of the operation.

As a result, in one of the robberies under investigation, a electronic device was stolen. The perpetrator’s later use of that device allowed the officers to locate his habitual residence in Los Montesinos and confirm his identity.

During the search, jewelry, electronic equipment and 2,700 euros in cash were seized. Investigators also recovered tools used for assessing jewelry, including diamond purity testing kits, scales, and other items.

The officers detained the thief, and investigators have established his involvement in 18 forced-entry thefts inside homes: ten in the Pinar de Campoverde area, seven in Ibi, and one in San Vicente del Raspeig.

El detenido pasó disposición del juzgado de Instrucción número 1 de Orihuela, que decretó su puesta en libertad con la imposición de medidas cautelares.

Although most of the stolen items have been returned to their rightful owners, investigators continue analyzing a portion of the recovered items that remain at the Guardia Civil facilities in Pilar de la Horadada. This is done to determine whether they are connected to other unresolved robberies, so it cannot be ruled out that the number of victims may rise as the case unfolds.
