“out of control” arrest in Arroyo de la Miel
A man armed with two shotguns was detained on a busy Monday in Arroyo de la Miel, Malaga. He was en route to the Benalmádena Local Police Station, intending to confront tow truck officers who had previously ticketed and impounded his vehicle. Thanks to the swift response by the police and the cooperation of bystanders, the individual, who became increasingly agitated, insulted officers and claimed with alarming certainty that he planned to harm others. He was taken into custody before any confrontation could occur.
The suspect carried two hunting rifles and 50 cartridges at the time of his arrest. The town’s Municipal Council issued a statement noting that the Local Police prepared a rapid response and arrested him as he appeared ready to leave the taxi he was riding in.
The City Council added that the man’s vehicle had been removed by a tow truck because it was parked in a loading zone. Police officers were at the entrance to a supermarket after receiving a tip from a haulier who needed the area for work purposes.
“out of control”
The detainee, described as seemingly overwhelmed by the moment, told officers that he would harm innocent people as he was transported by taxi to the Local Police Headquarters. He appeared unconcerned about the consequences, saying that others had died in the past due to similar confrontations, and shouting threats about police officers along the way.
A call was received by room 092 from the constabulary reporting that a person with two shotguns was headed toward the Headquarters with the intention of targeting officers along the road. Upon reaching the Local Police HQ after a short ride, a specialized operation successfully defused the risk and halted the dangerous situation. The City Council portrayed the incident response as swift, effective, and unprecedented in its efficiency.
Not only did the rapid action protect the taxi driver and officers who were on site at the Headquarters, but it also minimized danger for everyone in the area, a neighborhood corridor that shoppers and visitors regularly traverse around this time of year.
