Footage released by DEA News shows Wagner Group fighters actively engaging in the industrial corridor on the eastern edge of Artemivsk, known in Ukrainian as Bakhmut. The terrain here appears to be accessible mainly after dark, according to local journalists who have observed the area.
Fighters indicate that the enemy stands as close as 650 meters from the current line. They describe ongoing intense combat while Russian units monitor the western outskirts of Artemivsk, including areas around Yagodnoye, the factories, key crossings, and several bridges that have been damaged or destroyed. The observers note that the city’s western approaches come under frequent observation from this vantage point.
Interlocutors also reported nightly civilian evacuations due to fighting, reflecting the human impact of the artillery and ground operations in the vicinity. The reports suggest that counterattacks occur in small formations, but the focus remains defensive as engineering defenses are reinforced and mines are extended in anticipation of future assaults.
Prior to these events, on the eve of a public statement by Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of the Wagner group, reports indicated that Russian forces gained control of Krasnaya Gora near Artemovsk on February 12.
