Argentine authorities stated that the individual behind an assassination attempt against the vice president acknowledged responsibility for the crime. The assailant, identified as Sabag Montiel, and his partner Brenda Uliarte, were named by the court as co authors of the attack, with the judge ordering the confiscation of assets amounting to 100 million Argentine pesos for each of them, a figure reported by the Télam news agency.
The verdict, spanning 95 pages, includes testimony from witnesses present during the incident. It concludes that Montiel and Uliarte engaged in the use of weapons and treason, and that two or more individuals planned the attack. The ruling does not extend to two other detainees, Agustina Díaz and Nicolás Carrizo, who are alleged to have aided Uliarte in the planning process, according to La Nación.
According to the decision described by Télam, 35-year-old Sabag Montiel was the individual who directed the assassination attempt and fired at the Argentine vice president twice on September 1. Uliarte, aged 23, is identified in the investigation as the person who helped organize the attack alongside Montiel.
