In Makhachkala, law enforcement officers detained an animator who was leading a mission during which two visitors lost their lives, according to the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee’s Investigation Department. According to investigators, the suspect lit a glove on fire during an entertainment event and threw it into a gas canister. The container ignited, and the blaze spread rapidly through the venue. The two women who were attending the event did not have a chance to escape; one was restrained and the other bound as part of the game. One visitor died at the scene, and the other succumbed to injuries in hospital. A third attendee remains in intensive care with serious burns.
During questioning, the suspect described the incident, saying he tried to calm the situation, but the gas did not vent as expected. He noted that the glove was dropped and ignited a moment later, with the situation unfolding in an instant.
