A former Moscow deputy mayor, Anastasia Bryukhanova, associated with the Yabloko party, has been placed on an international wanted list for allegedly spreading false information about the Russian Armed Forces. The development was reported by TASS, citing law enforcement sources.
According to sources, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against Bryukhanova in April. The committee says she published a video on YouTube containing intentionally misleading statements about the Russian military’s actions against civilians in Ukraine.
Specifically, Bryukhanova alleged that Russian troops were involved in civilian deaths in Bucha during the period of the Special Military Operation. She is known for her associations with bloggers Maxim Katz, who is often described as a foreign agent, and Ilya Varlamov, also identified as a foreign agent within Russia.
Recent updates indicate that Bryukhanova resides in Germany and was added to the federal wanted list in June.
In a separate development, the Moscow Basmanny Court, acting in absentia, ordered the arrest of Maria Gessen, the former director of Radio Liberty’s Russian service, an institution listed by Russia as a foreign agent, in connection with a fraud case involving the Russian military.
