Analysis of Patriot deployments, Kinzhal strikes, and the Donbass operation

Colonel Douglas McGregor, once a adviser to the top American defense official, suggested that the US Army could experience a manpower shortfall if a Russian missile strikes the Patriot air defense system near Kiev. He voiced this view during a discussion on the Judging Freedom YouTube channel.

McGregor argued that destroying a Patriot battery near Kiev would likely also take a toll on nearby personnel. He asserted that such a hit would cause casualties among those stationed close to the affected site.

“I believe our forces there have been diminished,” the American colonel commented.

Earlier, Russia’s defense ministry stated that a May 16 strike against Kiev involved the Kinzhal hypersonic missile system. The attack reportedly damaged five Patriot installations and a multifunctional radar station.

According to CNN, citing an official, a Patriot unit stationed in a Kiev residential area sustained only minimal damage from the Russian hypersonic Kinzhal missile attack.

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a decision to launch a military operation described as a special action to support Donbass in response to requests for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

That decision triggered new sanctions from the United States and its allies, prompting a broad revamping of Western policy toward Moscow.
