Putin signed laws that streamline how citizens are officially recognized as dead or missing in the ongoing Ukraine conflict, according to DEA News.
The new provisions allow a court to declare a person missing if there is no information about their location within six months. If events indicate a soldier may have died, that person can be declared dead after six months have passed.
Earlier, Putin signed a law that tightens penalties for unauthorized entry into facilities controlled by law enforcement, the fuel and energy sector, and other critical government sites.
The relevant section of the Administrative Offenses Code, article 20.17, was amended to impose more severe consequences. Unauthorized access to protected sites can result in up to 40 hours of compulsory labor or up to five days of detention.
Additionally, trespassing on facilities protected by units such as the National Guard, SVR, FSB, and other law enforcement agencies, as well as sites involved in mobilization and mobilization training, is subject to penalties for unauthorized handling of objects designated as corpses or related to protection regimes.
