To address the evolving fire hazard situation, authorities have lifted the emergency status in the forests of the Amur Region as of May 16. This decision follows a period of heightened vigilance and coordinated actions by regional services, and it was announced through the telegraph channel of the Regional Center for Civil Protection and Fire Safety of the Amur Region.

The regional governor, Vasily Orlov, signed the order to abolish the regime. Since May 2, a state of emergency had been in effect across the forests of the area, reflecting ongoing efforts to monitor, respond to, and contain any fire-related incidents. The move to end the regime signals a transition to standard monitoring while maintaining readiness for rapid response if conditions deteriorate.

In the most recent 24 hours, three natural fires were reported within the Amur region. One of these fires was contained across an area of 11 hectares, underscoring the progress made in suppression efforts. On the morning of May 17, two active forest fires were identified in the Svobodnensky and Magdagachinsky districts. Local authorities report that both fires are now localized, with continued surveillance and patrolling in the affected zones to prevent rekindling and to ensure containment remains stable.

Utilizing the Lesohranitel video surveillance system, another fire was detected on agricultural land in the Svobodnensky district on May 16. The incident was extinguished with the aid of more than 45 responders, including airborne units. Initial investigations suggest that the blaze may have resulted from intentional arson, though forensic verification is ongoing to establish the exact cause and accountability.

Earlier, authorities in the Kurgan region reported that emergency regimes for settlements and forests, prompted by local forest fires, had also been canceled. This reflects a broader pattern of transitioning from emergency measures to routine oversight, while maintaining readiness to react swiftly if danger levels rise again.
