Recent reports indicate that in 2022 the cadre of ambulance doctors in the country grew slightly by 1.4 percent, while the numbers of paramedics and ambulance drivers edged down a bit. This assessment is grounded in the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation as cited by DEA News and reflects ongoing adjustments within the emergency medical services workforce.

According to the same report, the professional segment of the ambulance service that is composed of doctors has continued a steady expansion. Specifically, 2022 saw a 4 percent rise in doctors within the ambulance teams compared with 2021, achieving a representation of 70.5 percent of the overall ambulance staffing. In absolute terms, the physician component increased by 1.4 percent year over year.

In contrast, the number of ambulance paramedics recorded a slight decrease of 0.3 percent, and the count of ambulance drivers fell by 3.12 percent, amounting to 1,425 fewer individuals compared with the previous year. These shifts point to a realignment of roles within the service and may reflect changes in training pipelines, job responsibilities, or recruitment strategies across the sector.

Separately, a statement attributed to the former Russian Ministry of Health noted that international economic sanctions targeting Russia did not disrupt the supply of essential medicines to privileged segments of the population. The declaration also highlighted an uptick in the share of clinical trials related to domestically produced drugs. Furthermore, it underscored continued momentum in the pharmaceutical market as it pursues innovative development goals aligned with national health objectives.
