A resident of the Altai Territory faced a police officer with tongs when the officer arrived in response to a call concerning possible domestic violence. The court delivered a judgment against the attacker after reviewing the incident. The information comes from the United press office Courts of the Altai Territory.
According to the proceedings, a resident of the village of Gilevo in Loktevsky district was found guilty of assaulting a police officer. He was punished for inflicting violence on representatives of the authorities during the course of their official duties, with injuries that were not life-threatening or harmful to health.
The district authorities stated that police officers went to the convict’s home to verify whether the civil rights of the woman living there were being respected. Earlier, the duty squad had received a call from the accused describing a possible violent crime. While officials were present at the scene, the man resisted physically and struck the officers’ hands with the tongs.
In its statement, the press service explained that the accused caused the police officers physical pain, mental distress, and bodily injuries that did not endanger health.
Members of the district team succeeded in stopping the aggressor’s actions and maintaining control of the situation.
During the proceedings, the accused admitted some responsibility, though he claimed there was no malicious intent behind his actions.
The court ultimately sentenced him to one year in prison. An additional year of imprisonment, which had not yet been executed, was added, along with a deprivation of the right to drive for about eighteen months, under a decision dated September 14, 2022.
According to Article 73 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the court ruled that the sentence of deprivation of liberty would be considered deferred with a one-year probation period, as stated by the presiding judge when announcing the verdict.
In a related report, a resident of the Kemerovo region was found guilty of repeatedly beating his eight-year-old son with a broom and tongs. The court ordered a three-year prison term accompanied by a probationary period for the offender.
