The innovative ecosystem has grown in recent years, propelled by the technology sector. The AlicanTec assembly, one of the province’s well-established associations, approved a collaboration with the PalmeraTech initiative to host this year’s first joint event with two tracks: conferences and debates with awards. This alliance will give the business segment its own window and, above all, bring more activities to the scene.

The events will take place from May 24 to 27. One day will feature two venues. In the morning, the Alicante Convention Center will host the conferences and talks led by provincial business leaders, and in the afternoon the province’s first technology awards gala will take place. The president of AlicanTec, Toni Sánchez, noted that the proposal already enjoys support from the mayors of the two cities. “We will try to bring in other administrations, but we believe this is a good initiative.”

Sánchez explained that the aim is to highlight success stories found in the Alicante region, with the only condition being that the company has production headquarters in the province. This approach seeks to connect talent with the potential demonstrated by local firms and others that have established themselves in the various towns of Alicante.

PalmeraTech’s driving force and president of the National Big Data Association, Juanjo Milla, commented that one of their goals is to reach the entire province. “We want to go beyond the 20-kilometer radius of our cities. We want this to be an event for everyone,” he said during the assembly.

In its 2024 activities, AlicanTec summarized the progress of the association, noting growth in its membership with more than 450 affiliated partners and 63 member companies representing firms with over 5,000 employees and 533 million in turnover. As a sign of advancement, the organization has created a new brand and platform, establishing a database of technology companies and their areas of expertise.

Sánchez emphasized that the connections among members remain focused on business. Attention has also been given to training and attracting new profiles, with the introduction of new practices through Vocational Training to bring young people into the companies.
