Alicante tram collision leaves two injured and service halted

A woman and a young passenger were injured when the car they were traveling in collided with a tram unit on the Line 2 corridor near Alicante.

The incident happened at approximately 08:00 along the railway alongside the main road, Barony de Polop street, to the north of Alicante. Local police investigators are examining the causes, noting that a front side impact occurred as the car crossed the tram platform while the tram was in the same area.

Three patrols from the Alicante Local Police arrived at the scene and confirmed that the car had rolled several meters before the tram finally came to a stop.

This TRAM line required a temporary service halt until the damaged vehicle could be cleared from the track and the area secured for safety checks.

In the vehicle were a female driver and an underage passenger. Medical teams provided first aid at the scene and transported the two occupants to Alicante General Hospital by ambulance with visible bruising. In contrast, no tram passengers were injured and no medical assistance was needed on board.
