A neighbor in Alicante narrowly avoided a serious incident when a roof collapsed at a home in the Florida neighborhood this afternoon. The man sustained only a minor injury to one hand as he entered the kitchen to prepare coffee, unaware that a structural collapse had just occurred nearby.
Firefighters and regional police responded quickly, and both crews coordinated an orderly evacuation of the four-story building. After a thorough assessment, most residents were allowed to return to their homes, with the exception of those living in the unit where debris had fallen from the upper floor. The collapse prompted a safety check of the entire structure, especially areas affected by ongoing work that had been taking place on a higher level of the building.
The incident occurred on Constellación Street. The affected resident reported to local reporters that renovations were underway upstairs, and he had been in the area for about a week when the warning signs of danger appeared as crews carried out their work.
