A fire event affected the Alicante Provincial Consortium of Firefighters and Generalitat Forest Firefighters as they worked to contain vegetation and terrace fires near the town of Tibi. The proximity of the flames to residential areas prompted the Generalitat to activate its Forest Fire Contingency Plan at level 1, a step confirmed by 112 via social media. Initially considered under control at 4:20 p.m., the situation remained under observation an hour later as crews continued extinguishment efforts. A command unit from the Provincial Consortium led the operation, supported by a light main pump, two heavy rural pumps, and two helicopters, Alpha 0 and Alpha 02, assigned to management and water transport missions respectively. The on-site human deployment included a sergeant, a corporal, and 11 firefighters based in Ibi and Cocentaina, along with a mobile checkpoint established in San Vicente del Raspeig. In addition, two more units were deployed by the Generalitat Forest Firefighters to reinforce the effort.
Ongoing coordination involved multiple teams and equipment to ensure containment and to prevent spread toward inhabited areas. Local authorities stayed on scene to monitor the fire’s behavior, assess weather changes, and adjust the response as needed. Communications between the command center and field units emphasized rapid water delivery, fuel management, and safety of the public and responders. The incident underscored the importance of well-timed contingency planning and interagency cooperation in dealing with fires that threaten both agricultural land and nearby residential zones.
