The National Police presented fourteen new patrol vehicles in Alicante this Thursday, expanding the mobile fleet across the province and introducing ballistic protection modules as part of a new safety upgrade. These additions include armor reinforcements in the most exposed areas of the driver and passenger zones and behind the rear prisoner screen, as confirmed by the Provincial Police Department.

The vehicles carry the national commemorative logo marking the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the National Police and were unveiled by government officials, including the subdelegate of the Government, Carlos Sánchez Heras, and the Provincial Chief Commissioner of the National Police in Alicante, Manuel Lafuente.

These patrol cars are 14 new-generation Ford Kuga hybrid SUVs, selected for their advanced features, low fuel consumption, and reduced emissions. The hybrid system blends a gasoline engine with an electric motor, and while the vehicles are not plug-in, they recover energy through driving and braking to optimize efficiency. The fleet offers an estimated range of 680 kilometers on a full cycle, combining daily patrol needs with environmental considerations.

Complete police set

The new radio patrol vehicles come equipped with a full police kit consistent with other modern units and, as a notable innovation, feature ballistic protection reinforcements in the opaque areas near the driver and front passenger, as well as a protective barrier behind the prisoner area. These enhancements are part of the latest security upgrades announced by the Provincial Police Department.

With the addition of these vehicles, the mobile fleet across the Alicante province expands to six local National Police stations, each receiving at least one new unit. The remaining twelve vehicles will be allocated to various sections within the Alicante Provincial Police Station, ensuring greater reach and faster response times for communities throughout the region.
