A debt of 900 euros linked to the installation of two air conditioners appeared to be a possible trigger for the violent confrontation that led to the death of a man in Alicante. The altercation left a 51-year-old resident gravely injured, who died shortly after at a city hospital.

Four people were taken into custody and remained in custody under the authority of the authorities this week. The individuals, a father and his three children aged 21 to 48, were connected to the case as it moved through the local judicial channels. The matter is being handled by the Education Court, with the initial detention ordered by the prosecutor. The investigation is being coordinated by a different court that was in session at the time of the fatal incident.

The fight occurred on Valle Inclán street in Alicante. Investigators from the provincial judicial police and the violent crimes unit examined the events and determined that the responsibility did not lie with a single individual; all four members of the family were implicated in the incident, contrary to initial assumptions that only the father was involved.

According to police findings, the argument escalated around 8 in the evening on the day of the confrontation. The four detainees were among those present, along with two other men who had been paid to perform work at the detainees’ home. One of the men had installed two air conditioners in a nearby residence and helped the other injured man, who sustained serious injuries in the confrontation.

Parent takes the blame

The father, who was initially brought in for questioning, reportedly gave statements indicating that he was the only person directly involved and that he had stepped into the dispute, blaming his children. He described himself as a long-time plumber who had knowledge of the workers involved. The tension reportedly arose over a demand for payment amounting to 900 euros for the installation work, with the father alleging cooperation with his assistant to resolve the matter.

The national police investigation uncovered that those involved had attempted to minimize their presence at the scene. They attempted to present alibis or deny involvement, but subsequent inquiries by the violent crimes unit confirmed that both the father and the children had taken part in the incident.
