He was apprehended on a Sunday night after allegedly running over a civil guard in the El Moralet district and was subsequently placed in provisional imprisonment without bail. The driver is being investigated on suspicions of committing murder, assault, and injuries against a law enforcement officer. The public prosecutor requested the driver’s arrest on these two crimes along with another offense related to leaving the scene of the accident. The Civil Guards working in the San Vicente del Raspeig Investigation Area, who were part of the anti-theft service in the Al Moralet zone, found themselves in a situation where a routine identification of a vehicle stopped on a dimly lit street escalated into a serious incident. The officer who was struck became unconscious and, after receiving initial aid, was admitted to the intensive care unit of a hospital in Alicante. He remains hospitalized as investigations continue.
Residents nearby had alerted patrols about a suspicious vehicle, prompting a response from the security team. While it is clear that a confrontation occurred, police say there is no immediate evidence linking the driver to other robberies in the area. The vehicle involved was found on the street with its lights off, and the driver fled the scene but was ultimately apprehended by colleagues of the injured agent.
