The Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport continues to rise. In March it posted its third record of the year with 1,475,739 passengers, up 16.4% from the same period in 2024. It was a month in which flight activity also hit new highs, rising 19.1% to reach 9,396 operations. This momentum reflects a solid rebound in travel demand and the airport’s growing role as a gateway to the Costa Blanca.

Those records gain extra significance because March 2024 overlapped with Holy Week, whereas this year it falls in April. Consequently, the growth in travelers happened without a vacation period this March.

International traffic continues to dominate Alicante’s travel mix. In March, it rose 18.2% to 1,274,566 passengers. Domestic traffic totaled 199,917 travelers, up 6% year over year. All figures refer to commercial traffic and the comparable period of the previous year.

United Kingdom led the international market in March with 502,586 travelers, followed by the Netherlands with 97,869; Germany with 95,729; Poland with 88,584; and Belgium with 81,616.

As for flights, the Alicante airport also set a monthly record in March, handling 9,396 operations, up 19.1% over March 2024.

Quarterly Data

With the addition of March, the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández airport posted a total of 3,699,742 passengers in the first quarter of the year, up 14.6% from the same period last year. Regarding flights, these months saw 24,094 movements, up 16.2% against 2024.

The airports of the Aena Group (made up of the 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, the London-Luton airport and 17 airports in Brazil) closed March 2025 with 28,775,355 passengers, 4.3% more than March 2024; they managed 249,502 aircraft movements, up 3.9%; and transported 126,889 tons of cargo, up 7.6% from last year.
