AITEX Awards Spotlight: Textile and Cosmetic Innovation Awards Expand in Spain

Interfabrics, based in Alcoy, secured the top prize in the sustainability and innovation category within the textile sector, while a second prize also highlighted Alcoy. The municipality of Valencia, specifically Paterna, was noted in association with the event’s recognitions.

Cosmética Cosbar, from Prat de Llobregat, received the highest honor for sustainability and innovation in cosmetics, with Babaria from Valencia following close behind.

Kimera Technologies, also from Valencia, led the field as the best entrepreneurial venture, while Mediterranean Algae Technologies from Alicante and Recovo Lab shared the second prize, representing Barcelona.

The awards ceremony took place at IVAM-CADA in Alcoy, drawing more than 200 attendees, including business leaders and regional, provincial, and local officials.

To accompany the event, Laura Durán, managing director of Business Development and Sustainability and a member of the IKEA Spain management committee, delivered a presentation on IKEA’s approach to business expansion, sustainability, and product design.

The ceremony opened with remarks from Rebeca Torró, the Minister of Regional Policy, Public Works and Mobility for the Generalitat Valenciana. A total donation of 90,000 euros was awarded to the winners across the three modalities of this edition: sustainability and/or innovation in textiles, sustainability and/or innovation in cosmetics, and best entrepreneurial venture.

Between 15 finalist companies, an expert jury selected the winners of the fourth edition of the business awards based on value proposition, innovation, and sustainability of the proposals, as well as the quality and results achieved.

With the close of its fourth edition, the expansion and consolidation of the AITEX Business Awards were affirmed. The program stands as a key initiative aimed at strengthening the Valencian business landscape and extending its impact across the national territory.

Aitex increases the donation of business awards by 30,000 euros

AITEX business awards began in 2018 to stimulate the revival of the business fabric, whether in textiles, cosmetics, or other industries. The awards seek to encourage interaction among diverse audiences and support companies in becoming more competitive, finding innovative solutions to new challenges, and promoting industrial growth. They recognize the efforts of firms that contribute to development and visibility in innovation, sustainability, and research.
