Air raid alerts in Belgorod and Sevastopol explained by regional authorities

Sevastopol’s governor, Mikhail Razvozhaev, stated that an air raid alert was issued in the city. He shared the information through his official Telegram channel, signaling a precautionary warning to residents and authorities alike.

“Attention everyone! Air raid alert”, Razvozhaev announced. The governor did not disclose additional details about any ongoing threat at that moment, leaving residents to rely on official guidance and protective measures as the situation developed.

Earlier, Razvozhaev had noted that the air raid warning had been lifted after a period of heightened alert. The alert time was recorded at 12:43 Moscow time on Sunday, and the entire warning window lasted about 20 minutes before it was rescinded.

Meanwhile in Belgorod, the morning of December 31 saw missile sirens echoing through the region. Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod Oblast, urged residents to take shelter in specially equipped facilities to ensure safety during the potential threat.

Subsequently, regional authorities announced the termination of the special security regime in the administrative center. The alarm had persisted for roughly 30 minutes, and officials reported no evidence of attacks on civilian areas during that period.

On the same day, Gladkov provided updates indicating that Ukrainian forces had launched approximately 100 artillery shells within the Belgorod region over the previous 24 hours. The villages of Urazovo and Shchetinovka were among the locales reported to have been targeted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to official statements.

In related remarks, President Zelensky had previously asserted that Ukraine’s actions were aimed at preventing hostilities from expanding onto Russian soil, a point highlighted in contemporary regional security discussions and assessments by observers. This framing underscores the broader context in which regional authorities issue alerts and coordinate protective measures for civilians and infrastructure amid ongoing tensions.
