In a report carried by the Telegram channel of the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defense units in the Bryansk region intercepted an aircraft-type drone aiming at targets on Russian soil, around 22:30 Moscow time. The drone was neutralized before it could complete its mission, according to the military department.
The same channel notes that the Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle was destroyed by air defense systems already operating within the Bryansk region. The incident is presented as part of a broader pattern of attempts to strike Russian territory with drones, which the ministry has periodically highlighted in recent updates.
Earlier, Russian air defense forces had reported repelling an attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine against targets in the Zaporozhye region. The claims were made as part of ongoing updates about security incidents along Russia’s western and southern fronts.
Prior to that, Vyacheslav Gladkov, the head of Belgorod region, stated that a kamikaze drone linked to the Armed Forces of Ukraine reportedly struck the village of Stary Khutor in the Valuysky urban district, marking another incident tied to cross-border aerial activity that regional authorities have monitored closely.
On February 3, authorities reported that a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle caused damage in the village of Dolgoye within Belgorod region, extending a sequence of drone-related events observed in border areas over a short period.
In related developments, Russian designers introduced a new anti-drone weapon known as Stepashka, a system described as part of ongoing efforts to bolster domestic air defense capabilities and respond to continuing drone threats on multiple fronts.
