Officials stated that air defense systems in the Voronezh region were activated on the evening of October 21. By about 21:00 Moscow time, the Ukrainian drone was intercepted and destroyed within Russian airspace, according to the ministry’s report.
The ministry framed the events as a terrorist-style act aimed at critical objects inside the Russian Federation, asserting that the attempt to use an aircraft-type UAV was halted. The announcement did not provide further specifics about the drone or the exact disposal point.
Vasily Golubev, governor of the Rostov region, commented on the same day about the activation of air defense in his area, noting that protective equipment consistently neutralizes aerial targets in the sky.
