The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that roughly 20 thousand military personnel will serve in air defense protection for the country over the New Year holidays, according to RIA News citing the defense ministry.
Officials stated that during New Year’s holidays and weekends, around 20 thousand personnel from the air defense and missile defense corps of the Aerospace Forces will participate in combat duty to safeguard the airspace.
The Ministry of Defense also noted that on the night of January 1, more than 1,800 service members from the 1st Special Purpose Air and Missile Defense Army of the Russian Aerospace Forces will be deployed on combat missions.
