In Lorca, a town in Murcia, a staff member at an educational institution has been detained amid allegations of inappropriate sexual remarks directed at several students. The individual, a teacher at an institute, had previously faced disciplinary action and was removed from their position last month while an investigation continued, a move approved by the regional Ministry of Education.
The arrest followed after authorities confirmed the person was employed at the facility. The incident unfolds within 24 hours of earlier events that raised concerns about improper conduct. At the center, the head of the Physical Education department is reported to have been the subject of an investigation related to alleged sexual harassment involving multiple minor students.
A number of students have confirmed that the teacher made obscene and offensive sexual comments.
Authorities have not released the identity or age of the suspect. It remains unclear which subject the individual taught at the school, as officials have not disclosed those specifics.
Several students and teenagers reported feeling unsettled after hearing comments that were deemed obscene and inappropriate.
From the department led by Víctor Marín, officials stated that the Ministry has received information about the case and is progressing with formal steps.
In this context, after gathering relevant information, it was decided on March 8 to suspend the teacher from instructional duties for six months. The case has been referred to the prosecutor’s office, which is currently handling the investigation. The corresponding administrative file within the Ministry remains open pending judicial outcomes. These proceedings are being managed under the jurisdiction of the Lorca Court Guard.
