Aena reported a record net profit of 1,630.8 million euros in 2023, a rise of 80.9 percent from 2022. The growth was helped by extraordinary financial items, including deposit remunerations in Brazil at 36.3 million euros and exchange rate differences amounting to 11.2 million euros.
As highlighted by the company, the 2023 net profit also stands 13.1 percent above the level reached in 2019, before the pandemic, when it totaled 1,442 million euros.
In 2023, Aena recorded an EBITDA of 3,022.6 million euros, marking a 45.4 percent increase over 2022 and a 9.3 percent higher level than 2019. This performance allows the firm to recover its pre-pandemic EBITDA one year ahead of its 2022-2026 strategic plan.
With an 80 percent payout policy, Aena will propose to the ordinary general shareholders meeting on April 18 a dividend of 7.66 euros gross per share, charged to the 2023 results. This amount is 61.2 percent higher than the 2022 distribution of 4.75 euros per share.
This dividend improvement will benefit both private and public shareholders, since the government holds a 51 percent stake in the company.
Traffic for the Aena group, which includes Spain, London Luton, and the airports of Northeast Brazil, rose in 2023 to 314.1 million passengers, a 16 percent increase from 2022 and equivalent to 102.3 percent of the 2019 level.
