An abuse section
A resident of Vall d’Uixó, Castellón, identified by the initials JMP, appeared in the dock on Monday facing a serious set of accusations. He stands trial for two crimes described as ill treatment, sexual abuse, and a separate count of threats concerning events allegedly happening between 2017 and 2020. The alleged victim is his ex-wife, the mother of his two daughters. She reports being hit, insulted, touched against her will, and threatened with death.
The complainant, who testified after a formal appearance before the court, said she initially did not file a formal complaint because fear of retaliation kept her from speaking up, particularly for the sake of her daughters. During the deposition, she recalled an incident in which the accused allegedly grabbed her by the neck, threw her against a wall, and punched her when she challenged him about his intoxication.
She described a scene where meals were described as unacceptable and recounted a moment when the accused allegedly threw food against a wall and kicked her while the children cried in terror. The testimony painted a picture of repeated episodes that caused emotional distress to the family during that period.
The abuse section
The mother of the minors claimed she herself was subjected to sexual abuse on a separate occasion. She described an incident after a course had ended when she was returning home from an event with the children. She says the accused approached from behind, touched her chest and genitals, and she urged him to stop. She claimed she stopped only when she saw her partner calling on her phone, and she left to retrieve costumes and head home with the children.
She added that custody arrangements had been established after the relationship ended and that alimony was involved. She recalled a disturbing comment made by the accused at the school entrance, followed by a payment of a euro, which she interpreted as a threat, and she stated she would hire others to harm her if she continued dealing with the situation. She testified through tears that she would do anything to protect herself and her daughters.
The complainant stated that she did not seek any financial compensation for the incidents and told the magistrates that her primary wish was for herself and her daughters to be left alone, free from fear or intimidation.
On the other hand, the defendant offered a markedly different account. He denied any physical or verbal assault toward his ex-wife and disputed the accusation of sexual abuse or threats. He described the allegations as fabrications arising from dissatisfaction with the custody decision. He asserted that he has two prior driving offenses and insisted that he did not visit the family home while intoxicated, arguing that it was his former partner who acted violently toward him and compelled him to leave the residence. He contended that the experiences described by the other side were injuries he could not have caused.
The complainant’s mother described her former son-in-law as an aggressor and claimed to have witnessed his pushing and insulting behavior. Another former partner, who claimed to have witnessed the events, testified about threats and disrespectful conduct, while the accused’s mother asserted that she had never observed anything out of the ordinary.
