Aura Garrido, known for Malnazidos and Ministry of Time, leads a new 1940s-set series called A Special Topic on Prime Video, bringing a bold mix of comedy and mystery to the screen. The streamer has dropped the first trailer, signaling a stylish and witty crime caper that places charisma and wit at the heart of the story.
In the opening preview, Garrido portrays Marina Quiroga, a sharp minded detective in a world where female cops are still judged by outdated rules. When a killer roams through Galicia, Marina voices the frustration many felt in that era, sparking a chase that blends humor with tension as social norms collide with ambition and competence.
The plot follows an aristocratic young man with a detective’s instinct who partners with Jean Reno’s loyal butler, Hector, to push back against a maze of obstacles. They confront gender bias, pushback from a wary new commissioner, and Marina’s mother who tries to steer her son toward a traditional match. Together they persevere until the truth emerges. The ensemble cast includes Ángela Molina, Alex García, Gorka Otxoa, Tito Valverde, Irene Montalá, Pablo Molinero, and Andrés Velencoso, among others. The series comprises eight fictional episodes and is guided by Teresa Fernández-Valdés as showrunner, who shares the original idea with Gema R. Neira and Ramón Campos. Additional directing duties are handled by David Pinillos, María Ripoll, and Daniel Aranyo, making it a collaborative and cinematic project for Prime Video.
