Monica and Isaiah Grant relocated to Chicago less than a year ago. According to their account, they initially found a single bat indoors and assumed it had slipped in through an open window. They did not anticipate the extent of the intrusion or the potential health and safety risks that could follow.
What began as a lone visitor soon escalated into a home overwhelmed by bats. In a short span, the Grants realized their residence was infested. Responding disposal officers described the scene as far beyond anything they had previously encountered, underscoring the severity of the problem.
With two young children in the household, the couple made the difficult choice to leave their home and seek temporary shelter with a neighbor while they figure out next steps. They are actively fundraising to secure a new place to live, hopeful that a similar invasion will not recur in the future.
Earlier, another couple reported discovering shelter for as many as 500 bats on a balcony, highlighting how wildlife can unexpectedly populate living spaces and create urgent safety concerns for residents.
