86-year-old man found safe after disappearing in Kaliningrad forest

An elderly man, 86 years old, who vanished while heading into the Kaliningrad region’s forest to pick mushrooms has been located. The update was issued by the regional department’s press service.

The disappearance occurred during a forest walk with relatives on September 11. When the search proved fruitless for his family, they promptly alerted emergency services for assistance. Responders from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, together with police, forest rangers, and volunteers from a Western search and rescue unit, joined the effort to locate the retiree.

After coordinated, persistent searching, the man was found. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported the successful discovery of the missing person.

According to the ministry, the man was relieved to be found and, by the time rescuers reached him, had already climbed a birch tree and planned to spend the night there. He did not require medical aid and was reunited with his family.

This incident follows a separate case in the Leningrad region in which a 62-year-old woman became lost in the forest and endured four days before being found.
