A case in the Chelyabinsk region has moved through the courts, involving allegations that a mother mistreated her young child. This report comes from the district attorney’s office via its press service.
According to court documents, between June 2023 and January 2024 a Satka resident repeatedly harmed her son, born in 2020. The child was beaten, bitten, and had his face scratched whenever he cried. During this period the mother was frequently under the influence of alcohol.
Neighbors called the police after disturbances at the home. Officers found the injured child at the residence and removed him to safety from the woman’s care.
The court found the mother guilty of torture and of failing to fulfill parental duties. She received a sentence of 3 years and 7 months of probation. She acknowledged her guilt and expressed remorse for her actions. The mother hopes to reunite with her son, who is currently placed in a social rehabilitation centre. He is reported to have begun attending work and visitation with his mother under supervision.
Earlier, in the Tver region, a teenager sought a court ruling that would terminate a mother’s parental rights.
