A Ukrainian drone was shot down in the Ryazan region, according to a Telegram channel associated with the Russian Ministry of Defense. The agency stated that on August 30, around 2:30 Moscow time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted a terrorist operation using an aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicle targeting objects inside the Russian Federation, but the effort was neutralized.
The drone was destroyed by air defense forces over the Ryazan region, the defense ministry reported. Earlier, authorities noted that air defense systems intercepted a Ukrainian drone over the Kaluga region. Reports also indicated that UAVs were engaged over Bryansk and Oryol as well.
During the night of August 30, residents of Pskov reported explosions at the local airport, with sounds described as similar to automatic detonations also heard in the area. The Baza Telegram channel conveyed that the attack began at 23:40 local time, with air defense systems operating in the airport vicinity. It was stated that the Russian military was attempting to shoot down unmanned aircraft using light weaponry.
Subsequently, Mikhail Vedernikov, the governor of the Pskov region, confirmed that the drone attack targeted the Pskov airport. He said that the Russian Ministry of Defense was repelling the drone assault.
In the meantime, Russia announced the creation of a new drone suppression system intended to strengthen defenses against such aerial threats.
